Pheasants busting out of cover in Kennebec, South Dakota (Photo: UPH Staff).
1958 - The perfect pheasant season in South Dakota
Most pheasant hunting seasons come and go, recalled only by certain events: a puppys first retrieve, a first double or that rare triple, partners and dogs now long deceased. Maybe its a picture of that Thanksgiving day hunt or a Christmas hunt in the snow with a late season limit. The specific year seems mostly forgotten. When it is remembered, it is often long ago.
